About Carlson Systems Engineering

Carl and Julia Carlson
In 1947, Carl and Julia Carlson forever changed the horizon of the Fastening and Packaging industries. With nothing more than a $350 cash investment, a used file cabinet, and their own enthusiasm, Carlson Stapler and Supply was born.

Over 60 years since those humble beginnings, the former Carlson Stapler and Supply has grown into a corporation employing over 500 people - CARLSON HOLDINGS, INC. The familiar “CSS” logo has been retained to symbolize Carlson Companies’ strategy of providing service and support to our customers.

Carlson Systems Engineering started as a one-man operation in 1974, with the initial goal of supporting Carlson Systems branch operations with unique packaging and fastening machines. Over the years, the operation grew organically into a company that custom designed and manufactured product assembly systems for wood-to-wood, vinyl and aluminum assembly, serving many of the industries' leading manufacturers.

Over 30 years after the company began, Carlson Systems Engineering has operations in Omaha, Nebraska and Twinsburg, Ohio, and has designed and built hundreds of product assembly systems for the fenestration, cabinetry and furniture industries. Our product assembly machines are customized with the latest technology and varying degrees of automation. These systems can be relatively simple to highly complex, multi-faceted production centers, depending on customers’ specific needs.

The Omaha operations focus on wood-to-wood assembly systems for industries including the manufactured housing industry, millwood industries, and other product assembly manufacturers. The Twinsburg operations were acquired in 2003 from Wegoma, Inc., and they are primarily a manufacturer and supplier of fabrication machinery and automated systems for the vinyl and aluminum window & door manufacturing industry. The Twinsburg operation has been a recognized market leader in the North American fenestration industry for more than twenty years.
